Changing your dog’s diet.
When changing your dog’s food over from one product to another, it is best carried out over a week or 10-day period. Why? It avoids any digestive reaction and upset stomach and it allows the digestive system to adjust to the new food.
There are many types of dog food: Raw, Dry, Moist, Semi-moist and homemade. Treats should have a mention here as they too, can be a large part of the dog’s daily caloric intake – make sure that they are nutritious.
Top Three Tips for feeding your dog:
- If your dog leaves some of its meal, there could be several reasons – too much food being offered.
- Make sure the dog has a calm area to eat his/her food. Never take the dog’s bowl away while he/she eats – this cause anxiety and stress.
- Do not feed your dog from the table or your plate – this encourages begging and attention seeking behaviours.
