Loose Lead (walking to heel) Workshop
Do you get dragged to the park by your dog? Does your arm ache after walking your dog because he or she is pulling so much? Do you dread taking your dog for a walk, because it is no fun being pulled around the block or to the local park?
Feel confident about walking your dog to heel and on a loose lead by learning the skills, techniques, process and commands with Jackie Murphy on this bespoke workshop.
Walking your dog on a lead and to heel (walking to heel means that your dog will walk next to you and not in front or behind) is an important factor in being a responsible dog owner, owning a dog and a stress free life without the worry of your dog walking you! A dog needs to be on the lead in certain situations, such as daily walks (walking to and from the car), going to the vets or groomers, around livestock, and so on.
If this all sounds familiar and you would like to start with some positive changes to walking your dog, then this workshop is for you.
Workshop Details
What you need to join the class
Our walking to heel loose lead workshop is for owners and their dogs. All dogs must wear a collar and lead (no loose collars) or a harness and an identification tag. Owners will need plenty of dog treats for the lesson.
Owners are reminded that they must remove any fouling which their dog has caused. All dogs should be fully vaccinated. If your dog comes into contact with an infectious/contagious disease or condition before the course starts, such as kennel cough or mange, you must have your dog checked by a vet before bringing him/her to the class.
What you will be able to do by the end of the workshop
- Teach your dog the 'heel' command so that they walk next to you
- Improve walking your dog on a loose lead
- Have focus and confidence when your dog is on lead around other dogs
- The ability to use a variety of tried and trusted techniques to practice each day
- Plus much more!

We can’t thank Jackie enough for her help settling TJ, our German Shepherd pup, into our family. Jackie didn’t just cover training she also offered invaluable advice on how to find the best food/treats and what essential equipment may be needed, and no question was considered too silly. We’re now looking forward to attending the next course of training and continuing this exciting new journey.
