Dog Training: Focus and Engagement.
When training your dog, it is always important to have his/her focus, however engaging the dog is also an important factor in training.
To have a dog that is really engage with training instead of going through the motions brings success to your training and bring both enthusiasm and drive for training in any dog activity sport, not to mention pet dog training.
With focus and engagement there are key elements to look for when training:
- Where does the dog look?
- What is the dog’s behaviour?
- Who is leading the interaction?
- Is the dog over or under stimulated?There are of course many more, but each one can give the owner/handler some feedback to focus and engagement within training.The more a dog focus the more engagement the dog will be and more importantly the more training becomes fun and enjoyable.
